Aspire is a major residential apartment development located on Herschel Street in central Slough, within walking distance of the high street and mainline railway station. The scheme comprises 238 apartments across two nine-storey blocks (A and B), offering a mix of studio, 1-bed, 2-bed and 3-bed units.
Designed with a focus on sustainability, all homes achieved EPC ratings of B or above. Features include electric heating, air source heat pump hot water systems, LED lighting, and EV charging infrastructure. The internal fit-out is high quality and future proofed for modern rental living.
In July 2022, the main contractor Mid Group entered liquidation, prompting the developer to form a new design & build company to complete the works under existing sub-contracts. Block A, containing 47 affordable homes and 37 private units, was completed in April 2023.
Amid slowing progress and signs of programme fatigue, RENU were jointly appointed by the developer and funders to re-energise the delivery of Block B. We provided leadership, re-established programme controls, and ensured coordination through to practical completion.
Following building control sign-off in December 2023 and completion of s278 highways works, Block B (151 units) completed in May 2024. The successful handover enabled a forward sale to Royal London, who acquired the block for their build-to-rent platform, ProperTies.
