Harlow Gardens is a residential development located off Villiers Road in Kingston. The scheme comprises two blocks of apartments one containing 20 private sale units, and a second (Block A) delivering 10 affordable homes with a Co-op store at ground level alongside 19 three-storey townhouses.
The original contractor, CKC D&B Ltd, entered liquidation in September 2019, following completion of Block A and partial construction of the wider scheme. The site then remained inactive for nine months, compounded by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following stalled negotiations with an alternative contractor, the developer and funder appointed RENU to lead the restart and complete the development. Working closely with the incumbent design team, RENU carried out a comprehensive audit of the works, identified remedial and outstanding items, refined specifications, and improved the layout and delivery strategy for compromised units.
We also led contractor engagement and supported the procurement of the necessary consents and warranties.
The result is a high-quality, contemporary residential scheme. All apartments were sold individually, while the townhouses were let and subsequently bulk sold as an investment, successfully unlocking value and protecting the interests of the funder.
