Delivering a new home for film and television production

The Home of Production is a 1.4 million square foot film and television campus located in Bedfordshire on a site locally known as Quest Park. Formerly a clay mineral extraction quarry serving the Stewartby Brickworks Factory, the site has remained dormant since production ceased in 2008.

The scheme sought to bring this post-industrial site back to life, delivering state of the art production facilities for the creative industries while generating substantial economic and community benefits. In addition to supporting film and television production at scale, the project will provide jobs, apprenticeships, training and education programmes for the local community and supply chain. The scheme would deliver meaningful long-term value to the regional economy through increased employment and local business spend.

RENU were appointed by Verb as Development Manager in Summer 2021, shortly after acquisition of the site. Our role was to lead the full planning and development process, shaping and securing the vision through the investment and feasibility stage, then coordinating the design team, managing the environmental impact assessment and leading extensive public consultation.

A planning application was submitted to Central Bedfordshire Council in October 2022, and consent was successfully granted in August 2023.
